the grout has moulds and mildews growing over it. This is when
it becomes a nuisance for those who have to spend endless hours

- How to clean grout that is cement based
– Cement based grouts can be cleaned by using vinegar
or acetic acid. Since cement is composed of lime that is alkaline
in nature therefore it can be burned easily by using acetic
acid. It is therefore very essential to not let the vinegar
or acid dry up in the area where it has been applied. After
leaving it for some time the tiles should be rinsed thoroughly.
- How to clean epoxy grout- Epoxy grouts can
be cleaned with the help of warm water and bleaching agents.
Here again rinsing is very important.
- How to clean sanded and unsanded grouts
– Hydrogen peroxide solution is also commonly used on
all types of grouts. It can be sprayed on the effected area
or even be used to wipe off the less stubborn stains on the
tiles.
- Baking soda, alcohol-sprays are also some
common home remedies for grout.
- Once the grout has been cleaned, it may
often leave behind gaps for which it is a must to use grout
sealers.
There are various other ways of avoiding the
growth of mildew and fungus on grouts. Since lighted and airy
areas are not too congenial for the growth of bacteria it is always
advisable to prevent them by switching on fans and lights to ensure
air circulation. This in turn will reduce the formation of mildews
and fungus thereby reducing the pressure on us to clean the grouts
every now and then. As they say “prevention is always better
than cure!” |
