A lot of people suffer from the myth that cd’s are much
more hardier in nature. But this is not so. The fact is that cd’s
are easily susceptible to fingerprints, dirt, and scratches. So
if we do not take proper care or learn how to clean cd then we
might no more be able to hear our favorite piece of music again.
Though there are various methods by which we can learn how to
clean cd, some of the most simple cd cleaning tips are listed
out below: -
- Take some mild detergent, warm water
and a piece of clean cloth.
- When scrubbing
the cd remember not to use a circular motion. This
is because this way the scratches will spread all over the
data and make the cd unplayable. Instead clean it in a radial
direction. This way the scratches will get across the data.
- After the scrubbing process is over, wipe
the cd with a lint free cloth to get rid of the extra moisture
or dust.
However in some cases just knowing how
to clean cd is not enough and we might also have to educate ourselves
on repairing the scratches on the cd. This too can easily done
at home. All you have to do is to detect the scratch and squeeze
toothpaste on it. Wipe it with a chamois cloth so as to remove
the extra toothpaste and your cd will be as good as new.
Other ways by which we can clean cd’s are by using petroleum
jelly, alcohol, clear shoe polish etc. But some of these home
remedies might also cause damage to the cd by leaving behind harmful
residues.
Besides learning how to clean cd we should also learn to store
them properly. Cd’s should never be left without their cases
because their abrasion against each other may also damage them
permanently. Moreover they will be more prone to attracting dust
particles and dirt if left out in the open. Cleaning the cd’s
at regular intervals is also a must and if we religiously follow
the tips mentioned above we can be sure of getting a long-lasting
performance from our cd. (Legal stuff: we are not responsible
for any loss or damage that results from the use of these tips).
